I Need An Electric Fireplace
I live in a duplex that doesn’t have a fireplace and yet I really want a fireplace. The perfect solution for me is an electric fireplace. They are portable and easy to set up and come in all kinds of styles, sizes, colors, and price ranges.
I’ve noticed that Dimplex makes some nice electric fireplaces they have Oak corner models, flat wall mount electric fireplaces, the regular portable electric fireplace which looks like a fireplace and surround with hearth pushed flat against the wall. You need access to an outlet and you not only get a beautiful fire to look at, but you get some added heat to. Plus if you are tired of having the electric fireplace in your living room you can move it to the bedroom. How cool is that?
There are also some really neat variations on the electric fireplace out there. One is an electric fireplace insert, which you can use to convert your traditional wood fireplace to and electric fireplace. This is useful to people like my parents who believe that burning wood in the fireplace is messy and smoky. To each his own I guess. The wall mount electric fireplaces aren’t as portable as the floor units but there are some really nice and modern looking designs out there. This would probably be my electric fireplace of choice if price and ease of set up were not a concern.
I’ve also noticed some really cool dual functional inserts and surrounds. For instance there is the classic corner electric fireplace. But, my favorite is the surround that is a shelf and media cabinet and stand. In the center is the fireplace, surrounded by your dvr, dvd player, tapes, books, etc. And on top is your TV. It helps if it is a nice flatscreen. With this set up you can sit on the couch or your favorite chair and watch TV, without missing any of the ambiance of your electric fireplace dancing flame show.
One of the coolest and most expensive electric fireplaces I’ve come across is the Zen Box – Classic Frame. It’s also one of the most expensive. This amazing home upgrade is a 52 inch built-in electric insert. It has a multi colored LED flame, which flow out of a bed of simulated white and clear river stones. The LEDs can change colors and it comes with a remote so you can customized your colored light, electric fireplace flame light show. It really is one step up from the wall mounts. Built-ins always add a touch of class and elegance.
If your more practical like me, and would just like a nice functional electric fireplace to add that little touch of ambiance without breaking the bank. You can always browse Home Depot or Target for some electric fireplace bargains.
Someday I hope to have a rustic cabin with a huge stone fireplace. When I do this I will have to contact my friends over at log cabin builders, they do really amazing work. But, for now I guess I’ll have to settle for the ambiance of my awesome electric fireplace.
